Rev. Insor was born in Ghana, West Africa, where he was very active in his local church as a leader. He came to the United States in 1992 to pursue a Master of Education degree in Technology at Eastern Washington University. While there, he became involved in the local United Methodist church, serving on their church council and in various committee positions in the church, everything from Mission Representative on the Campus ministry, member of SPRC, Sunday school teacher, to President of the United Methodist Men. He relocated to Milwaukee in 1996 to work for a management consulting firm until 1999 and later worked for various non-profit organizations in the social work field.
While in Milwaukee, he became active in the Emanuel United Methodist Church in various capacities, eventually becoming the Lay Leader of the church. He was asked, in 2001, to lead two bi-racial churches for 9 months due to their pastor’s reassignment by the Bishop. He worked with a transition committee to ensure continuity of their ministries until the appointment of another pastor.
Reverend Insor completed his Master of Divinity program at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in May of 2012 and was commissioned as a Provisional member and ordained as an Elder in 2014 in the Wisconsin Annual Conference. He also holds a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Care and Counseling from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago which he obtained in 2019.
During his ministry, Reverend Insor has served several churches, including Beloit Henderson Avenue Ministry, Emanuel UMC in Milwaukee, English Settlement and, most recently, Burlington UMC. He led a church that had lost half its members and was in financial crisis, to becoming sustainable. He provided great stewardship strategies and vision which helped the church to pay off its mortgage a year earlier than the due date and become solvent while focusing on discipleship. He also served as a board member of the Transitional Living Center, the Burlington Rotary Club, and the Chamber of Commerce. He was very active beyond the local church, as well as serving on various committees and agencies at the Wisconsin Annual Conference.
Reverend Insor was appointed to the Church Cabinet as the District Superintendent for the Southeast, where he served from 2022 until June 30th, 2025. During this time, he led the Southeast District through the post-Covid era, the difficult time of disaffiliation, and re-districting. Under his leadership, only 5 churches left the Southeast District in 2023.
In his words, Pastor Insor has great passion and commitment for ministry with a focus on the mission wherever he is called to serve. He is thankful to God for the gift of Leadership that he has been blessed with, and endeavors to use it to glorify God in his service.
Reverend Insor is married to Margaret (Maggie) who is a care giver at the Kenosha Hospital. They have three grown children, Emmanuel, Andrea, and Joshua all living in the Milwaukee area.
